Joane Reinholdt

Rose of Bargemont

She was born in a little stonehouse in the hills of southern France
As soon as she could walk and talk she´d start to sing and dance
She sang and danced for her family and at the local bar
And everybody loved her and said she would go far

She´s the flower af the mountain she´d dance and sing her song
And everybody´s calling her - The Rose Of Bargemont

She took a train th Paris to sing at a cabaret
Her parents were so worried they wanted her to stay
But she moved on to London and the nightclubs of Hong Kong
And everywhere they called her The Rose Of Bargemont

She´s the flower af the mountain she´d dance and sing her song
And everybody´s calling her The Rose Of Bargemont

Then one rainy night at the Moulin Rouge she met a handsome man
He offered her some sparkling wine and a love affair began
The band they played La Vie En Rose and they kissed the whole night away
He said that he would love forever and a day

She´s the flower af the mountain she´d dance and sing her song
And everybody´s calling her The Rose Of Bargemont

They travelled around together and saw the whole wide world
She danced - he counted money, she was his working girl
But when her beauty faded he left her in Saigon
She sat and cried a lonely tear this Rose of Bargemont

Many years have passed since then she never danced again
She moved back to her hometown at La Place De St. Echen
She´s now a faded flower all dressed in grey and black
But when she hears La Vie En Rose the memories come back

She´s the flower af the mountain she´d dance and sing her song
And everywhere they´re calling her The Rose Of Bargemont
Yes everywhere they used to say The Rose Of Bargemont
